With more vehicles fitted with air conditioning and climate control systems as standard these days, many of us are becoming familiar with using aircon all year round, keeping you cool in summer and mist free in winter. However, few customers are aware that like other parts of your car, the air conditioning system also needs regular maintenance to ensure it works efficiently all year round.
Your air conditioning system can actually lose up to 15% of its coolant every year, which means that it could have a serious impact on the performance of the system and may lead to damage on the components involved. This is why car manufacturers recommend your aircon system is recharged with gas and lubricant every 2 years. However, this is not included during routine vehicle servicing, so if your vehicle is more than 2 years old it's probably due a recharge.
